Part 7: Amazing April | April 3, 2024

Happy April everyone! We are only a few days into this new month, meaning the rest of it stretches out in front of us, full of possibilities. This month is made even sweeter with the arrival of spring, which will bring with it more activity and excitement. An easy way to make your days even better would be to take a stroll downtown and thankfully there are plenty of amazing options for you. Regardless of whether you are looking to grab a delicious drink and bite to eat or an exciting event, the downtown core has you covered. Keep reading for some suggestions on how to make your April days that much more amazing!

EVENTS

Escape Manor: Located at 103 King Street East, this lounge and event space offers their customers everything anyone could ever need for a great night out. In addition to a lounge that features upscale casual fare and shareables, cocktails, craft beer, wine, puzzles and games, they also offer both escape rooms and axe throwing. They have four escape room themes to choose from – the Magician’s Assistant, Prohibited, The Final Viewing and The Asylum, any of which are sure to impress and test your skills. Regardless of whether you want to visit the lounge for a cozy night with drinks and games or instead want to try one of the high-energy experiences, Escape Manor is a great place to visit. Zen Lounge: Located at 69 John Street South, this lounge hosts a variety of exciting events that are sure to impress. Each week they host Fiesta Fridays and Shanghai Nights Saturdays, both sure to be the perfect way to kick off your weekend. In addition to these weekly events, they also host unique one-off events that are sure to be a great time. For example, this week they are hosting Back to the Kitty – The Official Liquid Kitty Reunion 2.0 after the success of the first event in January of this year. Taking place on Saturday, April 6 from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m., this event will be full of nostalgia and good times. Hosted by Master T, Darrin Laidman and original owner of Liquid Kitty Francis Zanetti, this event will feature music by DJ Verseone, Danny Walton and High Power DJ and will act as the perfect opportunity to reminisce over the good old days. FOOD AND DRINKS

Aijo Sushi: Located at 161 King Street East, this restaurant specializes in elevated sushi rolls and Korean and Japanese dishes, all of which are sure to be delicious. Their extensive menu includes items such as miso soup, edamame, tempura udon, a variety of sushi rolls, chicken donburi and more! M&N Desserts: Located at 105 Main Street East, this café is the perfect spot for you to grab a delicious lunch. Their menu includes items such as house blend organic coffee, fresh baked daily croissants, cookies and muffins, a variety of salad options, pulled pork, BLTs, sausages and more. Each day of the week they have daily specials with a different food option and either coffee or pop included, sure to be the perfect option for lunch.
