Let’s face the facts, there is no shame in being skeptical about fast food, we know that we are. From opening that stone-cold paper bag only to find out your order is wrong, missing bits, hastily assembled and falling apart, to that bag not even arriving, sometimes fixing yourself a BLT at home is the safer option. So ever since we heard from some friends up in Toronto, and over in London, that Wingstop has smashed all their expectations, with great quality food and exceptional service, we’ve been eagerly anticipating their arrival in the Hammer!
Wingstop has opened their first Hamilton location last Friday on the aptly named “Wing” William. The newest addition to the cities best eat street will have you ready for game day, prepared for the concert and equipped for the performance with their amazing range of flavours and sides.
What we tried
We tried a 6 Piece Boneless Wing Combo. There are twelve different flavours to choose from, and you can have two different choices with each combo, so make sure to look at the menu before you arrive! For our first-ever time at Wingstop, we decided to play it safe with a classic wing staple of Honey Garlic. For our side we got a bit more adventurous with the choice of the Cajun seasoning on our fries.
The food came out incredibly quick, an ironically, often hard-to-find trait of fast food nowadays, and just looked absolutely brilliant! The Honey Garlic boneless wings were to die for, easily the best wings we’ve ever had from a chain dining experience. Not only were the wings cooked to perfection, but sometimes Honey Garlic glazes can be too overpowering of one flavour, and not enough of the other, in this case, Wingstop have cracked the case. Once dipped into the ranch, this is one unbeatable wing.
The Cajun Seasoned fries were also, amongst the best, if not, the best fast-food fries we’ve had in Ontario. While we’re going to have to come back to try the rest of the wing flavours, the Cajun fries are probably going to make a return every single order.
The perfect game-day feast!
Our verdict is simple, you want fast food? Wingstop. You want quality wings? Wingstop. You want deceptively delicious fries? Wingstop. A simple chain from our Cousins south of the border that’s not trying to do too much, just a few things perfectly. We’re stoked to have them join us downtown!
So whether you’re in a pinch, waiting for the doors to open at Mills Hardware, getting ready for the Toronto Rock to take the field, or heading toward the box office for the latest Theatre Aquarius show, Wingstop is going to be one of the places to head to before your next event.
