On Sunday, June 22, we invite you to come experience King Street East in a whole new way. From 10am to 4pm, King Street East will be closed to vehicles between John Street and Gage Avenue, turning into an open space to walk, bike, roll, and connect.
It’s all part of Open Streets Hamilton, one of the city’s most vibrant community events. The day is about getting active, celebrating local businesses, and bringing people together.
You’ll find the Downtown Hamilton BIA at the John Street Hub, where we’ll be hosting Lawn Games Lane. Stop by and challenge your friends or family to a round of life-size Connect 4, Jenga, Ladder Toss, or Checkers. It’s free to join in and fun for all ages.

While you’re there, be sure to visit our neighbours at Mills Hardware. From 1pm to 4pm, they’ll be presenting Music on the Street, featuring live performances by Fern Sully, Bernadette Connors, and Ben Schillaci. Grab a coffee, pull up a seat, and take in some great local talent.
There’s plenty more to explore at the John Street Hub, with activities from:
- City of Hamilton Open Streets Information Tent
- Hamilton Conservatory for the Arts
- Green Venture
- Queer Axe Throwing / BATL Grounds
- Metrolinx
Open Streets Hamilton is designed to encourage active living, community connection, and support for local businesses. We’re proud to be a part of it and can’t wait to see the street come alive.
Plan to stop by, say hello, and take part in this special day downtown.
