It’s that time of year, again! Valentines and the build up to it can always feel quite difficult. For one, those of us who are in relationships, the running around, trying to find a place to book, deciding whether it’s best to go out, or stay in. Did you do flowers last year? Or was it chocolate? Do you have time in the week to put together something handmade? The questions circle like vultures.
And for those who are not in relationships, it’s frustrating. How awful is it to hear a colleague complain about the difficulty of having to do something nice for the person they care for most has got to be the romantic equivalent of a first-world problem. All that hustle in the week leading up to the fourteenth and there isn’t always opportunities to participate. Sure, many of us will have galentines plans which is very exciting, but they don’t provide the same thrill as putting together that gift basket, or booking that farmhouse getaway.
The only people who seem to escape the dread are the clueless dads that pull something out of nowhere at the eleventh hour and somehow consistently get away with their criminal negligence of their significant other. I swear these people are the backbone of the Ferrero Rocher economy.
