We visited one of the BIA’s newest restaurants, Per’So’Na, and left feeling like we’d uncovered something special on James St North.
Per’So’Na is an evolving experience. A modern Italian dining concept, or as they describe it, more of an Italian theory. It leans into simplicity, family-style dining, and the joy of transformation. The space is refined and airy, with detailed ceilings, and a palette that mixes olive green, natural textures, and brushed gold. It feels open but still intimate, with long banquettes, custom menus, and a bar that catches your eye as soon as you enter. A place built for connection; bring a date, bring a friend, bring your appetite.
So, what did we have?
While we looked over the menu, we sipped a refreshing zero-proof cocktail from the “SO’BRI’ETÀ” list. The Basilica Bianca brought together citrus, honey, and earl grey in a way that was bright and balanced. We also had a crisp glass of white wine, recommended by our server and exactly what the meal called for.
To start, we ordered the Parmigiana Frittella, crispy, golden bites filled with rich parm and black garlic, plated with care. The Crispy Polenta came with it, golden on the outside and soft in the center, with a tomato jam that added a little punch to each bite.
For dinner, we chose a PA’STA and a PI’AT’TI. The Gnocchi was rich and full of flavor, layered with gorgonzola, truffle, and walnut. The Ibérico Pampanella featured a bone-in pork chop with roasted peppers and a silky Marsala sauce that brought everything together.

And how could we resist dessert? We went with the Tiramisu Soufflé (when in Rome!), which was surprisingly light and the perfect finish to a flavor-packed dinner. Your server pours in the warm mascarpone anglaise tableside, keeping it hot, fresh, and fun to watch come together.
Speaking of, the service was exceptional from start to finish. Every recommendation felt tailored, and it was clear the team cares about the experience just as much as the food.
Per’So’Na also offers lunch and brunch. You’ll find dishes like lemon custard French toast with limoncello whipped ricotta, and a Carbonara Benny served on crispy spaghetti.
This is a space shaped by season, mood, and the people around the table. It’s rooted in quality, care, and creativity.
Pull up a seat. You’ll want to stay a while.
